Oxalofree suspension
Features and benefits of Oxalofree®:
1. Potassium citrate:
• Urinary alkalinizer decreases urine calcium excretion.
• Used for management of calcium oxalate and urate urolithiasis and fungal urinary tract infection.
2. Omega 3:
• Alpha linolenic acid, a precursor of fatty acids of the omega 3 family, has two derivatives; eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). These two fatty acids participate in the fluidity of the cell membranes. They also have a positive effect on the inflammatory reaction at the site of wound healing. (Baillon et al, 2004).
• PUFA fulfill:
1. Incorporation in the structure of the cell membrane, which gives it its flexibility and permeability.
2. Production of eicosanoids (leukotrienes, prostaglandins) giving omega 3 fatty acids the anti-inflammatory power.
3. Sodium bicarbonate
• Alkalinizes urine making it unsuitable for accumulation and deposition of oxalate and urate calculi.
• Used for management of severe metabolic acidosis.
4. Sambong extract (Blumea balsamifera)
• Herbal medication used for dissolution of calcium oxalate stones.
• Potent diuretic used after catheterization.
• Anti-microbial properties prevent urinary tract infections.
• Antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and hemostatic properties.
5. Piperazine citrate:
• Decreases serum uric acid concentration.
• Dissolves uric acid and urate crystals thus preventing their deposition in the urinary tract.
